Here is a shot from our walk this afternoon. Atticus is growing like a weed. We have had a relaxed Saturday so far, which is rare. Lots of changes coming to Camp Weber. I, Ben, resigned from my job this week after being on staff for over 8 years. I am more emotional about the change than I expected, but I think we have made the right decision. I will begin my new job mid March as a project manager at a small company. I am excited and hopeful for the future.
On the up side… Christian is scouring the internet looking for a house for us. She is determined to move to a bigger house this year. The rest of us don’t have strong opinions. We went driving around this morning after breakfast and ended up looking at houses that required me to win the lottery. Wishful thinking at this point in our life.
I changed some stuff up on the site, more changes are to come. The media page is all new, check it.

Christmas Miracle

We have been preparing for Christmas for a good many weeks now. We told Chloe that Santa was going to take her diapers and give her panties. Ideally trying to give her something to shoot for. So today she woke up to a plethora of undies and half eaten cookies. George was pretty excited too!
We did have a few accidents today, but I think we are making leaps forward. She did have some “encouragement” today from the cousins.
Some of the best gifts she wore.
Atticus had a great day too, but more significantly, he is getting 2 teeth!!!!

Busy, Busy, Busy…

As usual for everyone, I am sure, we have been keeping busy. Fall is in full swing, and we are enjoying all things that say “fall” to us. One of those things is the Fall Festival at our church. Chloe was a pirate this year. The Houston Chronicle rated the Pirate the 3rd most popular costume this year. Chloe was a pirate for lack of any creativity on our part. HOWEVER, once we had the inspiration for the pirate…creativity ensued. Ben built an awesome pirate ship for our little pirate to ride in style. Atticus followed along in his much more conventional stroller. He was a skeleton…that kinda goes right?
So naturally we posted some pics here. We have also included pictures from the Make Faire in Austin, and our little game of hide and seek in the hotel room :).

A promise is a promise.
AND…since I am posting about pictures, I should write a little more I guess. Being back at work is bittersweet. I am enjoying my job, and admittedly the break from the kids. However, I do really miss them. I came home yesterday, and Chloe told me all about the zoo. Her words are getting so developed, it is hard not to laugh at her. Well, I guess not really laugh at her, but I am amused by how hard she tried to communicate. Whichever parent is with her has to translate for her. She asked me to sing ” Hinkle Hinkle”. I could not for the life of me figure it out, until she started singing “Hinkle Hinkle little har” to the tune of “Twinnkle Twinkle little star”. OOHHHHH so that is what “Hinkle” is!!!
I feel bad for the poor girl. It takes her twenty minutes to explain to us that she does not want to watch Schoolhouse Rock, but the short about a lamb on the Incredibles movie. All she kept saying was MAM, MAM!! We had not a clue, so she started doing what we all do when we don’t understand a language…talk louder, and slower as if that will miraculously help them to understand. Why on earth do we do that??? So so cute.
As a side note, Atticus is doing great! He is such a social baby. He just smiles and cos at everyone he meets. He has also started talking…very loudly. It is so funny. Sometimes we cannot hear the TV over him, he demands attention. I think he will be our comedian…

Slackers!

I know that we have been slacking off. Not on purpose, but alot has happened the last month. It took at least 2 weeks for us to recover from Ike. We are back up and running (er…sprinting) towards fall. There is so much lined up for us this next couple of months!
My mom (G) graduated with her Batchelor’s degree. We are all so so proud of her. I will post pictures, we had a great time celebrating with her. Ben and the kids met us for a fancy dinner. Chloe did so great, I was really impressed! Of course we had our arsenol of goodies to keep her on her best behavior!
I also started back to work this month. My maternity leave has officially ended. It is a bittersweet thing for me cause I don’t want to leave my babes, but I enjoy my job and it is really flexible…so it is ok.
Our very good friends had a baby this week. We are so excited for them and are looking forward to getting to know him. We need to pick out awesome costumes for Halloween. Ideas anyone??
My sister got engaged, so wedding planning is officially in full swing. I am thrilled…and I really like him.
My other sister had a graduation of sorts from a program called Cornerstone that she has been really involved with. I got all teary when I started to think about where we all were only 3ish years ago. So much has changed, and I am loving it.
I know that is alot of updates on the Morley side of things, but its things like this that have been taking our time and thus this blog has been neglected. I will post pictures of said events soon. I really have to post some stories about the kids too…they are doing some pretty funny things these days 🙂

5:22 AM – Good Morning America.

Yes, you read that right. 5:22 AM. Atticus has been awake since 4:30 AM and is not interested in going back to sleep. Lets see…I went to bed at 11 PM last night. He woke up at 2:00 AM. Early for him, but not unusual. I fed him and put him back down. 3:00 AM Chloe started crying for me, so I went in and patted her back. Then 4:30 AM came, and I have been up since. I am tired.
Mind you, we are all fighting colds, or at least 3 of us are, Me, Ben and Chloe. I am not sure if Atticus has started the full fleged thing yet, I have noticed a few coughs and sneezes here and there, but nothing like the rest of us. Chloe has had a fever of 101 since Wednesday, and I can hear the congestion in her. Ben and I have the whole shebang…coughing, runny nose, congested head and chest…yada yada.
Oh well…I am waking Ben at 6:00 AM to tag team it if Atticus has not fallen asleep by then. At least then I will get maybe an hour before Chloe wakes up.
P.S. – I could give an update on the family after Ike. Most of the people that we know on this side of town have gotten their power back as of last night. My mom still is without power. Hopefully it will be back by Monday. My grandparents live in Kingwood, and their power is not restored yet, and there is no estimation as to when it will return. Ben’s grandparents live in Magnolia, and they are still without power. Their water has come back on though and that is good. Both grandparents have generators now to help with some of it. We have had unusually cool weather which has been helpful since there is no AC. Houston and Galveston are on the long road to recovery.
Ok, that is all I can give you, my brain is running on empty.

Ike is over, but not done

For those reading this not in the Houston area, here is a light status update. We have all been without power for a while. We stayed at a friends house last night with 18 other refugees, 22 total. Our power kicked on today and mom and dads in the afternoon. Emily’s has not come on, neither has Xian’s mom’s. We are busy cleaning our houses and anyone we can find. If you know I people who need help please tell me.
