  1. sleeping troubles

    August 20, 2008 by ben

It is expected for tiny babies to not sleep well. Atticus, for instance, is having a hard time sleeping long periods of time and breathing. I would assume most of you would agree that breathing is a significant enough function to stop sleep. We think the breathing problems are due to reflux and “junk” in his sinus cavity. So the Dr. put him on prevacid to test it out. Almost immediately it seemed to work, a little. He is sleeping better though the night… but the Chloe stopped. She decided that she did not want to go to bed any more and that she wants to wake up at 6:30am. The last two nights she has screamed in her bed for over an hour. We have decided tonight she gets to go to bed earlier and we only go in one time. Between Atticus eating ever 2-3 hours and Chloe screaming her face off… we are all a little stressed.

I feel like a zombie today.

  2. Mini Me

    August 9, 2008 by christian

I really wish I had a picture that I could post that could fully illustrate what I am about to write. I also wish that I was a better writer so that I could fully articulate the hilarity of the following stories.

Chloe and I have been working on potty training. We are in no rush, but she has expressed some interest, so we got a little potty that sits in our living room. When she goes pee or poo in the potty, we make a really big deal. We give high fives, we jump up and down, we even dance. There is a little song that says “you get the pee pee candy”, which is a single m&m. If she does not go to the bathroom, then she does not get pee pee candy…get the idea? So I walked in the other day to find that her stuffed curious george is on the potty. She was there with a book “reading” to him, and then she proceeded to look between his legs and said “no pee pee?”. So she waited a second and looked again. I guess what she saw was unsatisfactory, cause she pointed to the jar of “pee pee candy” and told him that he was not getting any. I was really laughing.

Seriously though, what I am about to tell you is by no means a surprise. I was just so amused by the exactness of her recount, I just was crying in tears.

so she and I are playing in her room, and Atticus was taking a snooze on her bed. She gets up and decides that George (the same curious George doll) needs to eat. She grabs my boppy pillow and puts it on her lap. She then proceeds to pull up her shirt and let George “eat”. After a few seconds, she says to him “All done? Switch sides” so she flips him over and does it on the other side. Then she picks him up to her shoulder and starts to pat his back. Until finally I hear a gutteral “eugh” sound. George had burped!

I was laughing so hard…all very silently of course! She is watching me very closely…yikes!

Seth decided to start calling Chloe Co-Co. At first she resisted, but now she has embraced it. Here is Co-Co cooking.

  4. out this week

    July 29, 2008 by ben

I am out this week at Staff Planning retreat. So Christian is at home with the babies. Rebecca is coming over at night to help out. Chloe has a scratchy throat and Atticus has a cold. Of course this happens when one of us is out of town.

Chloe did call me last night to say good night. It really makes my day when I get to talk to her on the phone. Not to be too emotional (cause I lack any form of emotion) I love my kids.

  5. Happy Birthday Chloe!

    July 24, 2008 by christian

So I know I am a day late, but I still anted to post something about my girl.  Two years old.  I can’t believe it.  one of Chloe’s favorite things to do is look at pictures that we have taken, so yesterday I sat with her and looked at pics in iphoto.  It made me realize how much she has grown.  Her hair is so long, and she just looks like a little girl now.  My baby has turned into a little girl…when did that happen?  Apparently right before my eyes!  I am really enjoying this stage.  She is talking in mostly full sentences.  She understands more than I know.  Her dancing and singing skills are fantastic, and she loves everyone…mostly.  She is my two year old who is going on 30.  She is the boss of everyone, and does not like to share.  She likes to yell at us and the dog, and tells Atticus “no” when he cries.  We are working on her gentle side :).  Man I love her!

    Happy Birthday my girl.
